Knowalong

Privacy

The app keeps your guides on your iPhone. It has no Knowalong account, advertising or Knowalong analytics. Web-link sharing is off in this development build. We do not run a server that receives your guides, photos or recordings.

Updated October 27, 2026. Knowalong is in development and not yet on the App Store. This page describes the current development build of the app.

What the app stores, and where

Guides, steps, photos and labels are saved in the app's private storage on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us. The app does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location or device identifiers.

Camera and photos

The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo for a guide. When you pick an existing picture, Apple's photo picker gives the app only the images you select. Knowalong does not read the rest of your photo library.

Image metadata

Knowalong saves new image files from the photo's pixels, which removes location (GPS), capture date and comment fields from the original file. Anything visible in the picture itself stays visible, so check each photo before you share it.

Microphone and speech

Voice is being explored and is not yet a committed launch feature. The development build lets a house-sitting handoff include a voice walkthrough. The microphone is used only while you record one. If you ask for a transcript, Knowalong uses Apple's speech recognition in on-device mode only. If your iPhone can't transcribe on the device, no transcript is made and nothing is sent elsewhere. Recordings, notes and source photos stay in a private draft on your iPhone and are not included in the sitter instructions or exports unless you select a photo for a step.

Translation

On iOS 18 and later you can make a copy of a guide in another language. This uses Apple's built-in Translation feature, which runs on your iPhone and may download language files. Apple may collect usage metrics, such as the app and the language pair, and says these do not include guide text. Knowalong does not send the text to us.

Copies you share

Sharing works through local exports. A quick photo card, a PDF, an offline HTML file or an editable backup file is a separate copy. You choose where it goes through the iOS share sheet, and the app or service you pick handles it under its own policy. People who receive a copy can keep or forward it. Editing or deleting the original guide does not change or recall a copy you already sent.

Web links

Sharing a guide as a web link is not turned on in the current app. If it is turned on in a future version, this page will be updated first to explain how it works.

iCloud and device backups

Knowalong does not sync through iCloud. Its local data can be included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backups, depending on your backup settings. Apple handles those backups.

Deleting your data

Deleted guides go to the Deleted tab, where you can restore them or delete them permanently. Deleting the Knowalong app removes its data from your iPhone, although copies may remain in older device backups and in any files you shared. Because we don't hold your data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

Purchases

Any paid feature in the app uses Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment. Knowalong never sees your payment details.

Children

Knowalong does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

This website

knowalong.com has no advertising or sign-up form. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance. The handoff demo on the home page uses fixed examples. It runs in your browser, does not use AI, takes no text from you, and saves or sends nothing. Separately, Cloudflare hosts the site and processes standard connection information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site.

Changes and contact

If the app starts handling data differently, this page will change before that version is released. Questions or requests: [email protected].
